dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem.

I'm having problem with Ubuntu 8.04 upgrade codename Hardy Heron. While updating the system, suddenly it hang. I've force shutdown the PC and try to resume the update but error below appear - dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem. So I've try so many time to open up Update Manager but the problem still did not resolved.
Lastly I google up for this error message and at last I've found the solution. Thanks to Marcobra (Marco Braida) by providing solutions "https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-terminal/+question/53810". I click at Application -> Accessories -> Terminal. So I've try "sudo dpkg --configure -a" and it does works.
